| Late Olamilekan Emmanuel |
The angry students of Federal University of Technology Minna set fire on the university's clinic last
night over the death of a student, Olamilekan Emmanuel.
The angry students allegedly set it on fire following the clinic
staff's refusal to attend on time and treat the deceased.
According to reports, the student was playing football in the hostel
when he suddenly became sick. His friends rushed him to the clinic but
the clinic's staff refused to treat until they provide his student identity
card to confirm that he is a bona fide student of the university.
When Emmanuel died, the students got angry and started a riot which led to the burning down of the school's clinic. All our effort to confirm the incident from the university authority as of time of reporting this story is futile.
Niger Police command has announced the arrest of three persons
in connection with the protest by students of the Federal University of
Technology, FUT Minna over the death of their colleague on a football
field.
