Mrs Aminat Yahya, the Director, Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme in Kwara , said failure of the biometric machine stalled the payment of the Federal Government’s N5,000 stipends beneficiaries in Kwara. The management of Osun State University, Osogbo has resolved to expel over 4,000 students who are yet to pay their tuition fees as the February 28 deadline ends tomorrow. In a press statement issued from the Corporate Affairs Unit of the university yesterday and signed by the Acting Registrar, Mr Gafar Shitu, the management said students who fail to pay the tuition fees by tomorrow would no longer be considered to be students. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Labode Popoola earlier told newsmen that students owed the university a backlog of school fees to the tune of N2 billion. The statement from the university said 4,410 students had not paid their fees, alleging that majority of such students had collected the money from their parents but either invested in the failed MMM scheme or diverted same to other purposes.

But it is quite sardonic the state of affairs of NAKSS in recent times. Four persons have been reportedly killed in Ondo town, the headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of the state, in a bloody clash that broke out between two cult group members in the town on Friday. The Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident to Channels Television. He also said the police have made some arrests in connection with the clash, while investigations are still ongoing to unravel the root cause as well as bring all the perpetrators to book.

The federal government yesterday approved the sack of all the directors in the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) with immediate effect. With the new development, 10 directors were shown the exit by the Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika after the approval from the federal government through the Ministry of Transport. Mr Ibrahim Idris, the Inspector-General of Police, says the force will henceforth recruit no fewer than 10,000 personnel annually to enhance its operations. Idris disclosed this in Sokoto on Friday when he addressed officers and men of Zone 10 of the force in Sokoto, comprising Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara state commands. He said, ‘’The yearly recruitment will be based on local government basis to reflect federal character and equity. “The communities will be engaged meaningfully in the exercise in tune with the principles of democratic policing.”
