Treat Niger Delta avengers as B’H terrorists, Junaid Mohammed tells Buhari

Outspoken Northern politician, Dr. Junaid
Mohammed, has asked President Muhamadu
Buhari to treat the Niger Delta Avengers,
NDA, as terrorists and mete out appropriate
military action against it as it is doing to
Boko Haram insurgents in the north.
Mohammed, who was a member of the last
National Conference, told Vanguard in an
interview on Sunday that it was wrong for
the Buhari administration to try to appease
the Niger Delta militants while still
confronting a similar terrorist group in
another part of the country.
The Kano politician and former adviser to
President Shehu Shagari, warned that any
attempt by Buhari to negotiate with the
avengers instead of crushing them to serve
as a deterrent to would be terrorists, could
lead to another civil war in Nigeria.
"Why is Buhari tackling Boko Haram with the
military might and going behind to negotiate
with Niger Delta militants? he asked.
"If Buhari is not careful with the NDA he will
plunge the country into another civil war
because he does not have the mandate of
the law to negotiate with terrorists.

Failure of bio-metric machine stalls payment of N5, 000 stipends in Kwara– Official

Mrs Aminat Yahya, the Director, Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme in Kwara , said failure of the biometric machine stalled the payment of the Federal Government’s N5,000 stipends beneficiaries in Kwara. Yahya told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Friday, that the exercise ran into a hitch in Isin and Oke-Ero Local Government Areas of the state#, adding that the machine went bad when it was being used to pay farmers in the two areas. She also said that thumb prints of farmers were not captured easily in the biometric data due to the nature of their occupation. “Farmers’ thumbs, especially in Isin and Oke-Ero and some other areas, too, could not be thoroughly captured.
