Nigerian Troops Free 5000 Captives, Kill 10 Boko Haram Terrorists In Borno

The troops of 21 Brigade and Civilian Joint
Task Force (JTF) conducted a fighting
patrol on Zangebe, Maiwa, Algaiti and
Mainari villages today where they killed six Boko
Haram terrorists and injured several others.
The troops also freed over 5,000 people being
held hostage by Boko Haram terrorists and
recovered five motorcycles and bicycles each.
The Acting Director of Army Public Relations,
Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, disclosed that
the troops of 7 Division Garrison Rapid
Deployment Force (RDF) II in conjunction with
some personnel of Mobile Police Force and
Civilian JTF also carried out clearance
operations on Boko Haram terrorists at Masu
Yiwa, Ladin Buta, Bazaka, Kesa Gala, Tabla,
Fahinde, Shirori, Gizina, Maska Aribe, Maska and
Maska Lawanti villages in Mafa Local
Government Council of Borno State. Usman
added that the troops encountered Boko Haram
terrorists at Maska Lawanti where they killed
two insurgents and recovered two motorcycles
during the clearance operations.
He, however, said that the patrol team lost one
member of Civilian JTF, while a soldier and one
mobile policeman were wounded.
"The corpse of the heroic Civilian JTF and the
wounded soldier as well as his police counterpart
have since been evacuated to Maiduguri, Borno
State capital. "We wish to state that those
wounded are in stable condition and responding
to treatment, is alreadywhile we commiserate
with the families of the departed Civilian JTF
member.
"The Army spokesperson said that the troops of
192 Battalion, 26 Task Force Brigade and some
members of vigilance group also embarked on
fighting patrol along Kusarha-Zalidava general
area.
According to him, the patrol team encountered
some elements of Boko Haram around Zalidava-
Weige Village in which they killed two Boko
Haram terrorists and recovered one General
Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) with registration
number FN 132125, a belt of 7.62mm (NATO)
ammunition containing 42 rounds.
"Sadly, one of the vigilance group members
sustained an injury on his eye. He is already
getting better."
